Festa del Redentore

Traditional festival that takes place on the island of Giudecca recalling the construction of the Church of the Redemeer. Originally this celebration was born as a thanksgiving for the end of the plague, which killed thousands of citizens in Venice in the 14th century. Nowadays it’s famous for its sailing regatta and the magnificent fireworks, a unique 45 minute show!
